    Our philosophy

Empowering people not only for technical solutions, but also reinforcing human elements of partnerships for social innovation in the water and environmental sector.

Our programme participants develop a broader scope of professional and personal opportunities, leading to positive impacts in their engagement with organisations that are committed to a better living environment. H20-People structures interaction with participants to create a space for further inspiring exchanges among trainers and the program designers. We apply personalised approaches and follow-up in a commitment to target results. An eye for synergies is developed through pairing the right people with the right expertise to broaden the scope of development.

We believe in operational partnerships with our participants, and from this connectivity comes a more real potential for participants to contribute to their communities. Our expertise centers on programs that highlight links between the content of participants’ work within the physical environment, to identify optimum paths for projects and personal development.

Interview with Ingrid Keupers during the Journey, De WaterGroep, Belgium May 2021 Joining EJWP was the right move for me because I’ve always been interested in the social aspects of water. I responded to a call within my company to participate, and was happy to be chosen. Our activities and trainings broaden my view on water problems and how they’re dealt with on a European scale. We have similar issues in Belgium, and I really see the need to cooperate more with our counterparts in neighbouring countries. I’m originally from Belgium, with a bachelor’s in environmental engineering, masters in water resources engineering with studies in sociology, and a PhD in water quality m…

Meet Naomi Timmer, the director of H2O People and Founder/Director of the European Junior Water Programme. An energetic and positive person, Naomi likes to connect different initiatives and people, in working for a better world with more smiles. Naomi shared her motivations and thoughts on EJWP in today’s environment. ‘I value human development and human rights in all my roles to create something that contributes to the challenges of our societies. It drives me in what I do to see people happy because they are getting the most out of themselves, and then us working together to make this a better place for all of us. Ending up in the water sector was actually a bit of a surprise. Being in wat…

EJWP Ambassador Chrysi Laspidou, professor in the Civil Engineering Department, University of Thessaly in Greece, provided 22 April 2021 in the EJWP2 Training Week a masterclass on personal career development and discussed

Europe is aiming for a ZERO POLLUTION system by 2050, which is vital to a healthy environment and livelihoods – as we live in a world of increasing chemicals, with climate change as an aggravating factor. The theme of EU Green Week (June) 2021 is Zero Pollution. And what about water? Water quality is of course highly affected by pollution, and water can spread pollutants to other ecosystems. Forging ZERO WATER POLLUTION practices is key. An inter-generational dialogue on how to achieve Zero Water Pollution can motivate people of all ages to share their ideas on how to achieve these goals. The European Commission Services and European Junior Water Pro…

Dutch artist-inventor Ap Verheggen is leading a workshop and warm-up session in our EJWP New Waves Festival online in the afternoon of Thursday 22 April. The workshop entitled ‘Hands and Minds Together’ will feature EJWP participants developing inspired concepts from Ap, who is also an EJWP Team member. Ap is the creative director of the SunGlacier project, which generates water from maximised condensation of air using solar and other energy. SunGlacier began as an art-meets-science project, and now holds real world applications by producing potable water from air nearly anywhere on the planet, even in hot and dry deserts. In an upcoming demonstration, Ap is building a solar-powered rain sho…

Interview Ioana Dobrescu during EJWP journey, Water Footprint Implementation, The Netherlands April 2021 I’m Romanian but have been living in the Netherlands for more than a decade, having initially come here for my studies. I hold a bachelor’s and master’s in environmental sciences and began working in the water sector after my theses and my internship on water topics. My work revolved a lot around water technology, up until I joined the Water Footprint Implementation organization. I’m now taking a much broader angle, working among other things, on shifting people’s perception of water consumption by quantifying and raising awareness of the water ‘hidden’ in the products we…
