Benjamin Hermans from Belgium: De Watergroep decided to sponsor a second employee participant in EJWP. This was me, in EJWP2. My current role at De Watergroep is as a process engineer. I studied bio chemistry at KU Leuven and UHasselt in Belgium. I worked for Royal Haskoning DHV as a project engineer for more than a year, and made the decision during this time to make a career change toward the water sector.  I’ve been at De Watergroep for five years, working on the design and optimization of the drinking water treatment. I became interested in EJWP to raise the profile of the European part of my work. I’m focused on increasing European projects as part of my career path at ACTeon Environment in France. I also wanted to grow my experience to see the bigger picture, and meet people from different backgrounds and disciplines to learn from. I really try to maximize what is given to me. It was a packed week for EJWP2 participants in Belgium, as they dived into masterclasses, project workshops, training sessions with peer coaching, and toured local points of water interest and production. It was a unique week in Athens from 10 – 14 October when members of EJWP Groups 3 and 4 combined expertise and learning paths in a Training Week hosted by the University of Thessaly.
