Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, (www.gaf.ni.ac.rs) is a modern educational and scientific institution that, since its inception in 1960, realizes high quality educational process, develops variety of scientific disciplines in the field of civil engineering and architecture and transfers knowledge into the adequate segment of economy and society.
Overall strategy of the Faculty is implemented by teaching and research staff of 97 (of a total of 126 employees) who educate, during the academic year, about 1650 students in academic studies of first, second and third degree, and about 150 students graduate each year. Through the Bachelor and Master of engineering degree programs in Civil Engineering (with optional modules Constructions, Hydraulic, Roads, Buildings), Integrated academic studies in Architecture and PhD studies in Materials and Structures, Hydroinformatics (in Serbian and English) and Architecture, Faculty educates engineers trained in planning and arrangement of settlements and cities, in designing and constructing buildings, roads, railways, bridges, dams, various hydraulic structures and systems and other civil engineering and architectonic structures, developing simultaneously its own young competent human resources.
The applied and developmental scientific research is carried out at the Faculty in the field of civil engineering, architecture, water management, urban planning, geotechnics and geodesy. In particular, systems, methods and elements of planning, design and construction of architectural and constructional objects as well as standard elements and norms are studied, improved and enhanced, independently or in cooperation with other organizations. In the period from 2002 – 2019, Faculty has successfully participated in a number of research projects funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia within the program of basic research (19 projects), technological development (32 projects) and integral and interdisciplinary research (5 projects).
The Faculty was a coordinator or partner in approximately 13 international projects of various European programs: ERASMUS+ KA2 CBHE (Ref. No. 573806-EPP-1-2016-1-RS-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP, Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk – NatRisk), ERASMUS+ KA2 CBHE (Ref.
