Long‑term collaboration launched with international exploration week in Brussels
Zwolle, 23 April 2026 – The Royal Netherlands Water Network (KNW) and H2O People, with its flagship programme the European Junior Water Programme (EJWP), have today signed a letter of intent for a strategic collaboration covering the period 2026–2031. Through this partnership, the organisations aim to contribute to the strengthening of youth leadership in the water sector, with a specific focus on the European context.
The collaboration responds to a growing need among young water professionals for support, development opportunities and practical pathways to engage effectively in complex European policy and cooperation environments. Central to this approach is the belief that community‑driven and place‑based learning environments can play a key role in enabling sustainable system change.
Brussels as a starting point
The collaboration will be launched in practice through the EJWP Brussels Exploration Week, which will take place from 28 September to 2 October 2026. During this international learning week, young water professionals will visit European institutions and water organisations and gain insight into how European water and climate policies are developed and translated into everyday practice.
The exploration week is designed for young water professionals (0–10 years of work experience) from the Netherlands and other European countries. It can be followed both as a stand‑alone learning experience and as the starting point for participation in the European Junior Water Programme.
Applications now open
With the signing of the letter of intent, applications are now open.
KNW members can apply for one‑time participation through KNW. At the same time, EJWP opens recruitment for new EJWP cohorts, with a choice between a one‑year or two‑year programme, for which the Brussels week serves as the shared starting point.
Following participation, communities are brought together and professionals may, depending on their profile and ambition, continue into further EJWP trajectories, KNW membership, and other impact and innovation programmes.
