Chrysa Efstratiou is a diplomat of Hydraulics, Soil Science and Agricultural Engineering in the “Faculty of Agriculture.” She received her bachelor’s from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and master’s in Renewable Energy Technologies from the University of West Attica. Her current professional role is as an Environmental Scientist at the Hellenic Centre For Marine Research (HCMR), Institute of Oceanography.
Since 2016, Chrysa has been working with public and private organizations on research projects funded by private, national and European sources. These projects are related to water management and treatment, marine biotechnology and renewable energy sources, coastal zone management and protection. Her main research focuses on algae production, renewable energy sources and their potential uses in the Mediterranean countries for promoting biotechnology innovation and circular economy practices in developing regions.
She joined EJWP5 to improve her skills in engagement of stakeholders in the water sector and to develop collaborations with water experts across the world. “This is way to face the imminent water crisis,” said Chrysa.
