“Our EJWP team is excited to bring our Water-Smart Bootcamp to WIE this year, especially to add yet another activity to our ongoing partnership cooperation with Water Europe. This is a key time following the UN Water Conference to more firmly establish the contributions of young water professionals throughout the European water sector. Our intense bootcamp is designed to boost the skills and connections of participants – even in a short time – to help them realize their full contributions to the sector. It will also help them identify areas of need in their careers and their organizations. And we will definitely have fun doing it!” said Naomi Timmer, Director of EJWP.
EJWP organized a Bootcamp in January of this year in parallel with the EU Workshop on Refreshing H2O Policy in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The workshop and Bootcamp were held on a former cruise ship which was converted into a hotel and conference center in the Rotterdam harbor. Cooperation with Water Europe and its organizations is familiar territory for EJWP. Participants from EJWP groups have also taken part in the WIE conference in past years, including presentations of the Water Europe Innovation Awards.
“It was great to learn about the experiences of the other participants in the EJWP Bootcamp. It was a diverse group representing many countries and organizations. I also think that the energizers led by the participants were great in injecting youthful energy to the workshop sessions!” said Oscar Alvarado from The Hague, NL, a participant in the Rotterdam Bootcamp last January.
About Water Innovation Europe this year: The UN 2023 Water Conference has now concluded but the discussion opened there is about to continue at our event, coming up under the theme ‘EU Water Policy: What’s Next?‘ This year’s conference focuses on putting water at the heart of our next European Commission’s programme and our next years’ plans by deploying a strategy to build a European Water-Smart Society.
