Want to learn more about the Nexus approach? How does it work? Or Interested in the potential of Gaming as learning method? Join the session playing the Serious Game of SIM4NEXUS, organized by the WG Human Capital and the WG NEXUS of Water Europe.

The European Green Deal presents a nexus approach where β€˜All EU actions and policies will have to contribute to the European Green Deal objectives. The challenges are complex and interlinked.’ Its design offers scope for successful policies, in being effective, efficient and sustainable. A nexus approach will maximize policy coherence, exploit synergies and address unwanted trade-offs between policy domains (e.g. water, food, energy, land and climate). Successful nexus policy making depends, among others, on the mindset, knowledge management and careful organization of the process (https://bit.ly/33yA70X).

Green Deal actions could benefit from training practitioners, and learn about societal challenges with complex features (e.g. climate change, low-carbon economy). Serious Games do facilitate dialogue and stimulate learning. Playing Serious Games is an emerging area to connect ideas from different domains (e.g. water, energy, food, land and climate). Alternative solutions are debated and compared with a perspective to co-create shared solutions. Serious Games combine a fun activity with being a learning component. It is used for purposes other than mere entertainment, for education, decision making and public policy making.

SIM4NEXUS (Sustainable Integrated Management FOR the NEXUS of water-land-food-energy-climate for a resource-efficient Europe) was funded by H2020 and offers Serious Games, validated (applied, tested, verified and used) via a set of case studies ranging from regional to national and Global scales.
