Participating junior professionals

The integration of European water management is of vital importance for a safe and sustainable future. For this purpose, the people behind EJWP build bridges between people and organizations, always looking for opportunities to work together on new innovations in the development of talented people and the water sector in which they work.

The participating organizations and junior professionals operate all across Europe and throughout the water sector.
The most valuable aspect of our collaboration is that it is so incredibly gratifying to bring people together and unite them for the cause of contributing to the water management sector.

Meet and read more about junior professionals participating in the programme.

Wetskills

Wetskills uses a new way of authentic learning and international networking for students and young professionals with a passion for water. The Challenges take place worldwide, usually during international water related events. In mixed teams, the internationals participants work on are real life and transdisciplinary cases from companies and (governmental) organisations. The main task is to think out-of-box and develop realistic concepts.

Wetskills Water Challenges has been organized more than 20 times since 2010. The Wetskills Foundation is an independent foundation with a broad international network in the water sector, based in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Nationaal Watertraineeship

The Nationaal Watertraineeship offers a 2-year programme in which young professionals work for four days a week at your employer. Depending on preferences of the candidates the NWT will match you for example with a governmental organization like a waterboard or a private company, like consulting and engineering firms. One day a week the trainees participate in a personal development programme with fellow trainees. The programme consists of training, intervision and work-outs, where you learn to use and develop your competences. You will also work on four different challenging projects with fellow trainees, within different organizations in the water sector in the Netherlands.

Water Europe

Water Europe is the voice and promotor of water-related RTD and innovation in Europe. It is a multi-stakeholder platform with currently around 200 members representing the whole diversity of the water value chain (Research organisation, Suppliers & SMEs, NGOs, Utilities, multinational companies…).

Water Europe has the ambition to realize a (European) Water-Smart Society in which enough water is available for all the different uses (industrial, agricultural, domestic) while we reduce the impact on the environment and our fresh water resources. In our Water Vision “The Value of Water: Towards a Future-Proof Water-Smart Society” we have come up with 4 innovation concepts to make this happen:

  • the Multiple Waters concept,
  • the Digital Water concept,
  • the Value in Water concept, and
  • the Hybrid-Grey-Green-Infrastructure concept.

We have regrouped our activities in 3 key programmes: our Collaboration, Advocacy, and Market Programmes. Each of our programmes is complemented by an annual event: Water Knowledge Europe (WKE), Water Innovation Europe (WIE), and Water Market Europe (WME). Additionally, we have also set-up our International Water Dialogues (IWD) to promote international business and research collaboration.

The European Junior Water Programme, A two-year programme for networking, transferring knowledge and the necessary soft skills to work together. For Water Europe, this programme contributes to realise the value of water and the water smart society. Europe needs not only technology but also an innovative human capital and the EJWP contribute to leverage the commitment, talent and dedication of junior water management professionals to tackle climate change and make our society resilient.
